Lesson Learned

I just spent a wonderful time deleting comments from each of my postings. Not because I don't want to read what you have to say, its because of all the junk postings that got dumped here. Ha, I actually thought that word had got out that I had a great blog and everyone and their brother was visiting and posting comments.

That dream lasted how long?? As long as it takes to see that each posting had the exact same comments from annonymous . I realized that I really wasn't the Wonder Blogger that my email box lead me to believe.

So, I learned what verification was all about and what a good thing it really is. Cause deleting each and every unwanted comment, one at a time, was NOT a really good thing, just a necessary thing.

So, feel free to post a comment but just be warned that you will have to do that annoying little verification thing (ya know when ya gotta stand on your head and squint just one eye trying to figure out what those warped letters are suppose to be). Sorry for the extra step or two but it really ain't fun to get those other types of comments.

If you really DO want those other comments then I suggest you start your own blog and jes let it all hang out - believe me - they'll find you !

Creating a new Header for this template

well, its not totally done yet but I do have a new blog header
So far: I have an image 700x263 (I started at 800x300 but this template has a center section of 700 so that I resized it down). I uploaded the image into a posting so that I could get the http link address for it. I went into the bog html code (a scarey thing !) and couldn't find anything for 'header'. But that may be because the Dots template doesn't have a header, instead it has a small 3 Dot image just above the postings. So after finding out that images address I found it in the code and put my image's code in there instead. I also deleted the size restriction in that same line of code. Okay, that got my header image in but the postings and sidebar were sitting on top of it. I then went in and increased the padding for those sections and after some tweaking it looks better.

Now I still have to find a way to drop the header down a bit so that it isn't covered by the Blogger control strip. BUT that will have to wait for another time. This had not been on my day's schedule.

If you want the file names for the 3Dots so that you can find it in your code, just leave me a note here and SOMETIME I will get back to you. (I've got to make up for the hours I just spent on this stuff.

If you can help me fix the header so that it isn't covered up I would LOVE to hear from you.

A big thankyou to Mom2Ethan at the 2Peas board for sharing info about tweaking blog templates.

trying something new

Okay, I am trying something new: creating my own header for this blog. I created a photoshop file 800x300 pixels and then used the colors from a screen capture of the Blogger Dots template. I used some texture and an action from www.atomicupcakes.com for a slight crumpled effect. The font is CK Scratchy boxes.

Let's see what it looks like here before I risk messing up my whole blog

okay, it looks like it works here, now for the real test............. adding it to the template
You can be the judge about whether it works or not LOL

who made these fonts????

This is the info that was included with a cute font called Rebekahs Birthday
I don't know of anyway to find out the copyright info on it.

I downloaded the font along with others here:
http://geocities.com/freescrapbookfonts1/

The fonts look great but I can't find any info about who created them. I really want to know if it is legit to share these and use them.

If you have any info about these fonts please leave a comment.
Thanks

still trying

I am still getting the hang of this thing - though I'm hanging by threads yet. I am trying to post some pics form Hello. I have learned that png files will not work, drat. Will have to stick to the jpg files I guess with an occassional gif. You know, I never did much of anything with the png format before digital scrapbooking. Now I use it constantly. Gotta love those transparent areas. LOL

Well, it looks like I don't need to use Hello, I just upload from my hard drive. Please be patient as I learn this setup.....

This is another ATC that I made from photos of our trip to Bermuda. A beautiful spot!

Cool Gift Card !

Is this cool or what??? You can customize gift cards! I did this for my Bro. Ha, he has to show them he's now 50, in order to use the gift LOL

Walmart charges $.88 to make the card and then you fill it for the ammount that you choose. It turned out great! I bet his kids got a kick out of it too. (credits for the embellishments are the designers at ScrapOutsideTheBox for the birthday mega kit, LO designed in FotoFusion)

Trying to figure this out

So, what brought me to this place, this blog that is? Digital Scrapbooking. I was checking out some desinger's links and ended up at several blogs. I thought I would give it a try too. Now, if I can just get this thing figured out.............

Let's see if I can insert a photo..... Here is a recent LO I did for Artists Trading Cards. It is based on a song by Casting Crowns "Who Am I"

Various designers' stuff was used to create it:
angie briggs doodles, papers by rdickenson, flowers by LauraHappel
dotted flower by ali, Fonts are Beyond Wonderland and Denise script

It was created with FotoFusion, a great program for quick and easy LOs. I do 95% of my LOs with FF.

Okay, so now you know a bit more about me and what I like to do.

My FIRST posting - aaaakkkk !

gee, what can I say? This is my first and there will never be another first. Does that mean that it is very important that I type something meaningful, insightful, motivational, unique, shocking, revealing, or maybe it should be something funny? Dang, I'm no good at humor.

So I will just leave these words, which are, actually, very fitting for this new beginning:

In the beginning God...................

phew, now that it is started, the stress is off. All the rest of my posting will just be new entries. ya gotta admit, giving God the focus is waaaaay better than my own words
